ONS 2022
The ONS in Stavanger is one of the world’s leading energy meeting places. This year some of the most discussed topics were: How can we produce the energy that is needed in the future with a low carbon footprint? What role will hydrogen and carbon management play? And how can the industry deliver on this together?
ONS 2022: Our favourite moments
ONS 2022 was very special, as it was the first ONS we attended as Wintershall Dea. Our booth certainly set the bar high.
At the heart of it: Our studio, where we held three Energy Talks every day.
On the first day, we had the honour of welcoming H.R.H. Crown Prince of Norway to the Wintershall Dea booth.
The second day at ONS was also a memorable one: Wintershall Dea and Equinor teamed up in the NOR-GE CCS Project. Hugo Dijkgraaf, Andreas Opedal, CEO Mario Mehren and Grete Tweit (pictured left to right) were very proud to announce this major carbon capture and storage project.
At our press conference, Paul Smith, Hugo Dijkgraaf, Dawn Summers, CEO Mario Mehren and Michael Zechner (pictured left to right) presented Wintershall Dea’s plans for the crucial upcoming years.
At the Net Zero Markets venue, CTO Hugo Dijkgraaf gave an outlook on Wintershall Dea’s solutions for a climate friendly future.
CEO Mario Mehren also made it a top priority to get in contact with young professionals at the ONS Young Arena.
A crowning moment: Wintershall Dea won the Best Stand Award at ONS 2022!
All in all, they were four intense and exciting days in Stavanger: Team Wintershall Dea enjoyed every second of it.
Energy talks
What role can the E&P industry play in the energy transition - and which technologies are needed? What could be the solutions for a greener and more diversified European energy mix? And how can Germany and Norway further strengthen their energy partnership? These and many more were topics of our Energy Talks at the Wintershall Dea stand. We invited to Team Talks to explore how we work together as one team with partners and suppliers, we brought up Big Picture Talks to look at how the energy transformation is shaping the E&P industry, and in Straight Talks we took on new perspectives on challenging topics.

Our Energy Transition Pathway
We are determined to play a key role in the energy transition, with ambitious and measurable goals: As part of our Energy Transition Pathway, we target net zero activities by 2030, reducing our Scope 1 and 2 emissions from upstream activities at equity basis. We also strongly seek to manage and reduce net carbon intensity. CCS and hydrogen play a crucial role in reaching the climate goals – and we have the expertise and assets to deliver. We aim to develop a carbon management and hydrogen business that can abate up to 20-30 million tonnes of CO2 per year by 2040.
