  • First industry appearance as Europe's leading independent gas and oil company
  • Stand presentations on geological and digital E&P application examples

The 81st annual meeting of the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE) is taking place in London from 3 to 6 June 2019. The industry gathering is the world's most important event for geoscientists and engineers in the oil and gas industry. Here, the latest developments as well as key challenges for the entire industry are discussed. This year’s focus will be on how to meet the increasing global demand for energy and what the future of the oil and gas industry looks like in 2030.

Following the merger of Wintershall and DEA at the beginning of May, the new Wintershall Dea company is presenting itself to an international industry audience for the first time. Wintershall Dea will be showcasing its exploration and production activities at Booth no. 330, with 144 square metres of stand space. Using the largest German oilfield Mittelplate as an example, the company will present how it utilises geological expertise and key technologies in the production of crude oil in a sensitive environment. Wednesday will be dedicated to digital transformation. In stand presentations, experts will present concrete application examples for the use of digital solutions. "We use state-of-the-art technology and digital methods for the best results in operational excellence, safety and environmental protection," emphasises Hugo Dijkgraaf, Chief Technology Officer at Wintershall Dea. "Mittelplate has been providing incident-free production in a natural conservation area for more than 30 years. We have recently started an exciting digital twin project to help us make faster and, above all, better decisions," he added. Mittelplate's digital twin is generated by merging data from various sources, some of which is generated in real time. The information obtained about the operation of the facility enables a fast response time and ensures optimized production.

Wintershall Dea is inviting visitors to its stand for a get-together on Wednesday afternoon to mark its first major industry appearance.
